 Recruitment for applicants of 2011 Osaka Invitational Program for Short-Term Overseas Trainees in Architecture and Arts.
OFIX is now accepting applications of Osaka Invitational Program for Short-Term Overseas Trainees in Architecture and Arts. This project has invited students from various Asian countries majoring in architecture or arts so they can contribute to the development of architecture and arts in their countries, and at the same time, deepen their understanding and interests in Japanese culture.

  Qualifications
@) Must be either of the following:
(1) Currently enrolled in OR a graduate of a graduate school program (MA/PhD)
majoring in Architecture or a related field.
(2) Have a Bachelor's degree and currently working as an architect
or a related field
A) Must be fluent enough in English to discuss or write about architectural topics
  (TOEIC score of 800 or equivalent)
B) Applicant must not be over 35 years old
C) Must be of Asian nationality and currently residing in Asia.
X) Must submit Letter of Recommendation from any of the following institutions:
(1) Institutions or organizations related to architecture
(2)University or other higher educational institutions
(3)Public institutions or organizations recognized by OFIX

 Guidance on the partial changes in the Immigration Act,
  followed by a questions and answers session
 We are seeking participants for the orientation on the revised Immigration Act, which will be held at Orion International House in Sakai.
 Some changes will be made to the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Law starting July 2012. With the scheduled revision, OFIX will hold an orientation on the newly introduced system for foreign residents. An immigration lawyer will be giving the presentation.

 Free Telephone Counseling for Foreign Children and Parents
 Osaka information Service for Foreign Residents and International Relations and Tourism Division, Osaka Promotion Bureau, Osaka Prefectural Government will hold a three-day Free Telephone Counseling for Foreign Children and Parents who have difficulties due to language barrier on 22nd Dec (Thu)-24th Dec (Sat).
 The Counselor of the information Service and other organizations, a midwife, lawyer, and notary public will be available for consultation.
 Counseling service will be provided in not only Japanese, but also English, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese. You do not need to worry about communication.
 Please do not hesitate to call us. Share your problem and let's find a solution for it to settle!

Seeking participants for a 2-day "training session for medical interpreter volunteer"
Seminar Training session for medical interpreter volunteer
Outline OFIX offers a training to equip volunteers with skills necessary to act as medical interpreters, who can assist foreign residents in Osaka or those visiting Osaka to overcome the language barrier and be at ease when they receive medical treatment. Volunteers who’ve completed the training would be given opportunities to actually utilize their skills.
Requirements @Persons who have language proficiency in Japanese and a foreign language (for foreigners, native language )necessary for daily living

 "1-day Information Service" for Foreigners (Free Consultation)
 We will be holding the "1-day Information Service", an event held yearly, to help foreigners living in Osaka solve the problems in their daily life cause by their inability to speak or understand Japanese well enough. To do this, the event will bring together specialized institutions that are closely related to the lives of foreigners and provide foreigners living in Osaka a 1-day free consultation service.
 At the event, through the support of volunteer interpreters, consultation and information is provided in 10 languages on the subjects of law, human rights, immigration and visas, labor, work, pension and health insurance, daily life, city administration, taxes, medical and dental topics, medicines, education, child rearing, and other general living topics.

 The consultation is free and you can consult as much as you want in a day. Please come and avail of this service and please invite any foreign friends to come with you.

 Information on the emergency accommodation for disaster-victims at Sakai International Hall (Orion International House) and Home-stay at OFIX volunteer families
 The Osaka Foundation of International Exchange (OFIX) offers temporary and short-term accommodation at Sakai International Hall (Orion International House) and at the home of an OFIX Home-stay family volunteer to foreigners affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, who are processing their travel overseas or moving into other facilities.
<Eligible applicants>
Foreigners affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, foreigners studying or working in the disaster-stricken area, foreigners who need temporary accommodation due to the effect of the quake.
<Accommodation Period>
Up to one week
<Required documents for application>
  1. 1 Disaster Victim Certificate (Risai Shomeisho) or document which proves the applicant was studying or working at the disaster-stricken area.
  2. Identification Document (health insurance card, Alien Registration card, Passport etc.)
  3. Document which proves the stay will be temporary and short-term.

This event is organized by OFIX and the International House Osaka, in collaboration with Kinki CLAIR, the Osaka Prefectural Government, and the Osaka City Government. The aim is to inform foreign residents about evacuation shelters which are used at times of natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons, through an overnight stay in a mock shelter, and the giving of lectures on related subjects. Meals provided will be emergency food used in such situations.
Please bring your own toiletries.

 Free information and counseling services will be offered to foreign residents at International House, Osaka to help with difficulties experienced in everyday life, and offer advice on how to live comfortably in Osaka. Specialist advice will be available regarding many common difficulties experienced by foreign residents such as legal advice, visa issues, work, insurance, and child-rearing. Volunteers will provide interpretation in 9 languages, and all advice is offered free of charge. Please tell your foreign friends about it.
