2009 Event Reports

@Following on from itfs successful holding last year, a Careers Information Day for Foreign Students was held on Friday 26th June at the Umeda Crystal Hall. The event included one to one advice by careers counselors, status of residence advice, various seminars, alongside booths run by individual companies. A total of 500 foreign students from varying countries visited the event, and took the opportunity to talk directly with staff from companies looking to recruit overseas students. Two Chinese language OFIX volunteers came along to assist in interpreting for the students, and they commented that seeing the students reminded them of being in the same position a few years back. A similar event will be held on Monday 30th November, and we hope that it will act as a positive link between students and companies, as well as contribute towards the development of Osaka as a whole.Click here for survey results (Japanese only)

2008 Event Report

@In collaboration with organizations such as Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, Prefectural Government of Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo, and Osaka Municipal Government, a Careers Information Day for Foreign Students was held for those scheduled to graduate from university in the spring of 2010. Following the first event held on 3rd June, this was the second fair in 2008, where 631 foreign students wishing to work at Japanese companies and 40 Japanese companies interested in employing foreign students participated. Information was provided at gCompany Information Cornersh and gStatus of Residence Consultation Cornerh, together with seminars such as gJob-hunting hints and tipsh, and gQ&A sessions with company recruitersh
According to the results of the survey of participating foreign students, more than 90% answered that they ghad a good impression of the event, with comments saying that they liked the seminars, such as Company Information Center, and that they hoped there would be information days in the future. .
On the same day, gJob Interviews for Foreign Studentsh sponsored by organizations including the Osaka Labour Bureau was also held in the adjacent venue. This venue was also filled with many foreign students, showing that there is a great demand from foreign students who wish to work at Japanese companies.

Careers Information Day for Foreign Students held on 3rd June
@There are about 10,000 foreign students studying in Osaka (10% of the total number of foreign students in Japan.), and around half of these are keen to work in Japan after graduation. In 2006 the number of foreign students who found work in Osaka after graduation was 919 (37% higher than the previous year) . In order to offer foreign students information and assistance in searching for a suitable company on 3rd June a Careers Information Day for Foreign Students was held by OFIX in conjunction with the Osaka Prefectural Government and the Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO) in Osaka.
@A total of 1200 students came along to the event to visit company booths,
and take part in career seminars. A total of 35 companies interested in
hiring foreign students came along and set up individual booths.
In the survey which was handed out to students nearly 90% stated that they
were glad they took part in the event.
